Welcome to the Research Site!

The intent of this area is to provide additional sources of information about our world and those who have significant influence over it. The main focus is to provide the means to obtain a more complete picture of what information was censored, twisted, minimized, or differs from media stories and the official sources they rely on. It includes information originally reported by mass media without much reinforcement, events they buried in a sea of trivial stories, or news and ideas they did not released at all. This research area has links to mass media video and articles just as it does to independent sources. Together they form a much more complete picture of our past, present, and likely, the future.

It is common place for people to label any news not delivered by recognizable major sources as questionable or not credible. It is healthy to be skeptical, and you should be. But to think that no other sources have useful or reliable information is fallacy. The same logic in applying skepticism to independent sources must also be applied to mass media outlets. If you are employed by a media company, you are much more likely to already know this. News is shaped. It is manipulated. It is magnified and minimized. It is censored. It is propagandized. And it happens more often than you think.

Should you be unclear where to begin, the media sub-topic is a wonderful starting place. A good understanding of how media works, how it interacts with public relations firms, lobbyists, and government is vital to more fully understand other subject matters. The importance of media cannot be understated; as it is the principle shaper of reality outside our own local spheres of knowledge. It is a huge factor in what we understand and conclude about our entire world. Spend at least a few moments to think about this fact.

While you are browsing through the topics in the various channels, it’s important to note that any one given topic is likely to span several different channels, so the matter of classifying which channel a topic belongs in is sometimes difficult. For example, the topic of weather modification used as a military weapon could appear in either the Government/Conflict or the Science/Secrecy sections.

These links are provided to help expand information you might otherwise not be aware of. Of course it is up to you how you wish to process it. In the end, we take away and develop or own truths. Realizing how media interacts with your own reality is a great first step!

Research Page Tips

Each research channel contains it’s own video player. These players already have a list of videos it will play. To access the menu for the player and watch any specific video in the playlist, click on the button just to the right of the play button (lower left corner of the player). Once you click the menu button, it shows you the videos in its playlist. You may click on any of the selections to see a video in the playlist.

Polls and comments are very easy to do. Once you submit your poll answers, results are displayed and will continue to be. In subsequent visits to the page, it will only show the most current poll results.

Keep updated automatically

Infrequent email will keep you updated on both the music and research fronts. Registering is easy and we promise not to abuse you or your email. Please note that registering is not complete until you confirm it through email. This is done to prevent improper or robot registrations. Keep in mind registration contains fields that are not required (although your state or country would be nice!).

Of Reality and Fantasy - a personal perspective

the reality...

is that at it’s roots, controversies develop as basic disputes over the facts, or the relevancy of them - which in turn spawns the differing beliefs and opinions we see in society. Further, once these opinions are set into motion they tend to become foundational. They are fostered and built upon, eventually becoming a belief system viewed through the owner’s personal prism and paradigms. At it’s core, our own reality presumably is derived from a personal set of working “facts” obtained over time.

the fantasy.

Facts? What facts? My dictionary says “Something known with certainty - something that has been objectively verified”. If what we hear uttered by our friends, parents, leaders, officials and other groups in positions of power and knowledge are actually facts, why such uncertainty and controversy?  Could there be any reasons for those in roles of public trust to inject fiction into fact?  The undeniable and historical answer is yes .

Sorting truth from lies and fact from fiction is an immense problem, but the bottom line is: there’s way too much fantasy in what is officially presented as reality. Conventional wisdom beware. Conspiracy theorists beware. Buyers beware.

in general...

people in modern societies seem dismissive, often too tied up in their busy lives to barely notice the disturbing blips on their radar screens. Even when confronted with reasonable facts too many people are willing to reject them due to conflict with their well established paradigms. Further still, some bury their heads in the sand. It is possible the truth can be too damn uncomfortable to really believe.

But a significant factor in the apparent dismissing of certain events or policies is public ignorance. People are ignorant in large measure because the media system and ‘official sources’ they rely on carry out part of their policies and agendas (and perhaps simply misguided attitudes) in ways that pointedly fosters public ignorance. It is, therefore, no surprise to learn that we don’t know what we haven’t been told.

Covering up mistakes is only natural, as is hiding crimes, mass manipulation, and other manifestations of control or corrupt power. Information can be a powerful thing; yet in spite of the fact we live in an information age, so much of it is hidden from public knowledge.

Uncovering what has been hidden is the impetus for the creation of the research section of this web site. At some point, it is important for researchers to move beyond the simple question, “What lies hidden from public view?” to ”why?”. More details below on this point.

conspiracy...

and especially the term ‘conspiracy theorist’ has been given a bad connotation. Almost a Pavlovian response, the slang word wacko (irrational, extremist) comes to mind for many when they hear the term conspiracy theorist. This association is routinely reinforced by the condescending approach politicians and the press take on the rare occasions they actually do talk about conspiracy.

As an example, similar but modified tactics are used when discussing the UFO topic, where jokes and cartoon graphics of little green men are often used to denote a less serious, or even comical tone to the discussions taking place. Of course, should mass media wish to further demote the topic, a common practice is to invite in a less experienced sacrificial  ‘expert’ likely to stumble on their own words and ideas, instead of a recognized topic expert.

And of course, there are wackos out there; conspiracy nuts who go too far, who lose objectivity by looking only in ways that feed their predisposed views of rampant corruption everywhere. Conversely, this irrational mentality would be exactly the opposite of the other extreme: those people who simply cannot fathom that conspiracies actually do exist - that they are a fact of life.

Of course, there are these people too; nuts that close their minds, who lose objectivity by looking only in ways that feed their predisposed views of a sanitary world where conspiracies just don’t or can’t happen. Politicians and press have yet to invent derogatory associations for these people. They present no threat to the status quo, therefore they are not wackos and should be commended for such patriotic compliance.

Although the research area does have it’s share of conspiracy related topics, it also concentrates on large organizations, including governments, who have done, or are doing things now that have quite significant impacts on you, yet have somehow escaped the normal route by which you would get this information - the mass media.

Challenges to a mass media reality

We should understand that the terms reality and truth are relative to those who perceive them. When truth and reality are related to complex systems (e.g. governments) they become blurred by those wishing to disguise motives and behaviors. Disinformation, misinformation, distraction, censorship, and security classifications are all examples of tactics used to hide or bend reality.

This site contains the broad subjects shown in the channels listing on this page, all of which concentrate on providing news and viewpoints not widely expressed in mainstream media. Some information references historical events that may be pertinent to an understanding of current or future affairs. It cannot be stated that the linked information is totally factual or unbiased. In fact, it is rare indeed that any source can be labeled as such. However , the major goal in providing these links is to provide awareness. In the end, you, and only you, will decide on the veracity of the information of those who relay or present it.

Much of the most important information will not be delivered to you voluntarily. It simply must be searched for to find it - if available. Corporate mass news media is not in the education or public service businesses, nor do they operate outside of what is in their best interests. They are in the advertising-marketing business with ad revenue coming mainly from other large corporations who are their clients. They make every attempt to keep you interested and keep you coming back. They have no obligation to provide you with a deep understanding of issues, to cover them at all, or to provide all sides of the story. Mass news media selects what to show, decides when to show it, and determines how it will be covered. News shows such as CBS’ 60 Minutes, NBC’s Nightline and many others can easily be directed to manipulate listener conclusion based on inviting well-rehearsed public speakers on one side, and less than professional guests on the opposing side of an issue.

True investigative reporting which we see less of these days, can do a reasonably good job of uncovering important and useful information. But while mass media may give you the story, they so often provide only the top layer - the superficial slice telling you little of the deeper details, connections, or ramifications. Critical thinking and open-minded skepticism is a must when digesting any story, whether mass media sourced or not.

Many are unaware of certain events because they believe mainstream news outlets such as BBC, CBC, NBC, CNN, Fox News, newspapers, news magazines or radio keep them well informed. We trust these mass media outlets to deliver, even beat us senseless with the news - the more important or bigger the story, the more relentless the coverage.  While it is true that mainstream news keeps us fairly well-informed about ‘standard fare’ news stories, it is most unsafe to assume these outlets relay the most critical or sensitive news without omissions or spin.  In fact, there often is no reporting of the most critical or most sensitive news at all -   repeatedly demonstrated throughout time and around the globe. News and/or facts are hidden, missing and revised for a reason. Visit the Industry: mass media sub-topic to start learning how and why.

If you are a newcomer to the vast quantity of information on these topics, prepare yourself!  If you are a veteran, you may find it easy to navigate through the topics on this site.  For our progressive friends, there are links on the main menu to take you to the TCP main site or for a pop-up music player. I am not an activist. I have no agendas and this is certainly not about political parties. It’s only about getting underneath some very large issues and the promise of some greater truths, wherever we might find them.

Respectfully yours,
